Research in Ecology is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal specializing in the field of ecological research. The journal aims to promote the latest discovery and insights in the field of ecological research.

Research in Ecology publishes original contributions on all aspects of Ecology, with a special emphasis on the following areas:

  • Ecophysiology 
  • Behavioural ecology
  • Evolutionary ecology
  • Population ecology
  • Community ecology
  • Ecosystem ecology
  • Nature conservation
  • Global change ecology

The journal welcomes reviews, advances in methodology and research articles, especially the ones providing breakthrough results of theoretical or practical relevance. Descriptive studies will not be discarded, provided they bring data of relevance to a broad audience.

Submission Preparation Checklist

By submitting a manuscript to the journal, the Author(s) verifies that the following items have been met:
  1. The submission has not been previously published under another journal, or is currently under consideration for another journal.
  2. The submission format should be in Microsoft Word. Other word processing software may be considered.
  3. DOIs or URLs have been provided wherever possible in the Reference List.
  4. The document(s) have been formatted according to the requirements under Author Guidelines. The placement of illustrations, figures, graphs, tables, and equations have been integrated into the main manuscript.
  5. Instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed in order to comply with the double-blind peer review process employed.

How to achieve “Carbon neutral”?


Carbon neutral was the New Oxford American Dictionary‘s word of the year in 2006 – and since then, has been catapulted into the mainstream world. By definition, carbon-neutral (or carbon neutrality) is the balance between emitting carbon and absorbing carbon emissions from carbon sinks. Or simply, elimination all carbon emissions altogether. Carbon sinks are any systems that absorb more carbon than they emit, such as forests, soils and oceans.

It is impossible to generate zero-carbon emissions; therefore, offsetting is a viable approach to become carbon-neutral. However, how do we do that?
